05-06-2007
Home win in Debrecen
On the first Saturday of June in Debrecen about one thousand people decided to relax in the morning with running. In the 3,4-kilometre-long distance, which passed by the most beautiful places of the city, athletes of the home sport school won. The quickest were Otman Nebil (9:17) and Bernadett Aradi (11:08).
Following the competitions in Kecskemét and Veszprém, the fans of running could enter for the last competition of the spring-summer season of the K&H Olympic Running Days’ series of events. Patron of the competition was Lajos Kósa, Mayor of Debrecen City of County Rank; and the protector was Dr. Zsolt Halmosi, county commissioner of police who even did the distance together with his family.
After the warming-up exercises of the aerobic trainer Anita Csapó, the field started to perform the 3,4-kilometre-long distance to the start shooting of Botond Storcz, the three-fold Olympic, four-fold world and four-fold European champion kayaker. A lot of people came with their family, friends, class-mates to do this good-humour running. There were a great number of pensioners and even mothers with baby carriage.
The competition of the leaders was decided in the last some hundred metres both in men and in women. In men, the notability of DSC SI, Otman Nebil (9:17) did the best finish and outran with one second Péter Halászevics (9:18) from Szeged, so Otman Nebil finished in the first place. „It was a very good competition, at the end I was able to win the race with a very hard finish. At the beginning Zsolti Kovács and the Ethiopian runner set the pace, but at the end I and Peti took the lead. There was an excellent running weather, I felt well. Next time I enter for the Budapest Championships in 1500 metres.” - summarized the winner. The second-placed Péter was very satisfied with his result. „I would have liked to finish in the first three places and I did. Otherwise I dreamt that I would be the second one. Tomorrow I enter for the Budapest K&H Olympic mini-marathon relay-race with my brother and another athlete from Szeged.” The third place was won by another athlete of Debrecen, Zsolt Kovács (9:19).
In case of women the podium places were decided also in the last metres. This day Bernadett Aradi (11:08) seemed to be the quickest one who was followed by her club fellows, Mónika Tóth (11:09) and Zita Szabó (11:20). „The competition was very close till the end because we ran four or five in the leading team and it was decided only in the last 200 metres who would be the champion. It was exciting. I like road running races as there is good atmosphere and it has good effects on me. The home track was a real pleasure to me because my parents and several friends of mine came to cheer for me.” - said Bernadett who has taken part in all of the K&H competitions in Debrecen up to now.
The activating competition announced for schools was won by Ferenc Kölcsey Primary School among the schools of Debrecen, while László Zeleméry Primary School in Bodaszőlő won this time and already several times among the country schools and they could get the sports implement purchase assignment.
The series of events of K&H Olympic Running Days is going on in autumn. The fans of running can line up for the start on 15th September in Szeged and on 16th September in Kaposvár.
