Debrecen

Debrecen – The organisers and the competitors are preparing full speed for the European Short Course Swimming Championships which will be arranged in Debrecen in December.

Less than one and a half month left till the start of the twelfth important world competition which will be arranged in Debrecen, i.e. till the European Short Course Swimming Championships due between 13 and16 December, 2007.

The continent competition will be the first really considerable contest of the wonderful sport establishment built in 2006, Debrecen Sport Swimming Pool on which even more attention concentrates because of the nearness of 2008 Beijing Olympic Games. Therefore the competent persons are paying more attention to the work of the organisers - the main work is executing by the specialists of Debrecen Sport Centre Kht. and on the other hand one of the most popular sport, which is managed of high priority world-wide, swimming is making its „début” in Debrecen.    

Well, it seems that the organisers are going ahead at a great speed or with powerful strokes. The last meeting before the European Short Course Swimming Championships arranging between 13-16 December in Debrecen was held these days in the city of Hajdúság in which among others Mr. Sven Folvik general secretary on behalf of the ‘Ligue Européenne de Natation’ (European Swimming Federation), Mr. László Szakadáti LEN Director and Mr. József Ruza, the general secretary of the Hungarian Swimming Association were present. The high-ranking officials consider it uniformly that Debrecen is ready to organise the continent contest.

Though not only the organisers are preparing full blast for the European Championships, but the members of the Hungarian swimming selected team as well who are having their training camp from 28th October to 11th November exactly in Debrecen. The pool of 18 adult and junior contestants – Mr. Károly Güttler is also among them – are swimming kilometres in Debrecen Sport Swimming Pool with managing of five trainers and from next week Mr. László Kiss, captain of the association is joining the contingent too. Otherwise the Hungarian leading field can try the swimming pool before the continent competition in a hard struggle as Debrecen gives home for the national short course swimming championships between 16 and 18 November.
