The team champion title is in Debrecen

The five-member team of Debrecen Sport Centre won the sprint distance team national championship in the 16th Tisza Triathlon competition arranged on Saturday in Tiszaújváros.

Before the competition the team of ’Hajdúság’ had to reckon with two really dangerous opponents. One of them was the eight-fold champion TVK competing in domestic track, and the other one was the winner of last year, Team Miskolc. The competition was impeded by the all-day-long rain in the industrial town of Borsod, thus it made the cycling track extremely slippery and dangerous.

But the DSC team did not mind the external circumstances, they did their utmost, so the five-member team of Debrecen in the selection of Tamás Lipták, Balázs Pocsai, Attila Fecskovics, Tamás Kovács, and Imre Csortos won self-confidentially before the team of Tiszaújváros.

On Sunday our triathlon competitors could show their preparedness in individual competitions. The competitors lined up for the start a little bit tired after champion title won on the previous day. Balázs Pocsai recovered the strength of Saturday the most, till the end he was in a heavy struggle with Csaba Kuttor, the two-fold Olympic competitor of the team of Miskolc.  Finally juvenility won and Pocsai opening a long final spurt, beat his opponent with some seconds advantage.   

The triathlon competitors of Debrecen trained by Gabriella Verrasztó and Zsolt Papp has had a really good year up to now as in competitions in which  men competitors of DSC entered for, the others had not much to expect. Tamás Lipták and Balázs Pocsai brought the short and sprint distance champion titles to Debrecen in duathlon, while Attila Fecskovics won in triathlon in the Olympic distance national championships. Together with the team champion titles, triathlon competitors of Debrecen can be proud of as many as six gold medals this year.
