Orientation of referees and volunteers
80 days, 1920 hours before the European Athletics U23 Championships, co-operators were orientated about the schedule to the minute. In the jam-packed grandstand of Oláh Gábor Street Sport Hall in Debrecen, 467 volunteers and 365 referees were briefed about the tasks of the competition of athletes under 23 years old between 12-15 July.
The recipe of the sooner successfully organized world competitions’ success was represented by Mihály Orendi, the Executive Director of the Organizing Committee, with title of Way to the ECh. He asked precise and honest work from all of the participants of the competition. He introduced the national and local general staff of the great event and presented the responsibilities of the staff.
He expressed his pleasure which he experienced toward the diligence of those volunteers who have grown up for today to be responsible managers of different spheres. After the orientation of the Executive Director, the attendants listened to the safety education of Sándor Herperger. László Gál talked about the tasks of the remaining period till the European Championships.
- From the volunteers of the previous events, forty-three people passed referee exam this year and together with the other qualified people, there have already been almost fifty referees in ‘Hajdúság’ who can be requested for competition organization – stated the fact Imre Nyul, the Secretary General of the Hungarian Athletics Association. He added that fifty brigades will work in two shifts in the European Championships.
Tibor Nagy outlined the trial competitions of the hard marching prior to the stony event when preparation of the organizers will be tested. The organizing team can be welded together first time in the national university-college championships of 19-20 May. The national finale of the secondary schools’ athletes will be held in the track of the Sport Centre between 2 and 3 June. Furthermore, between 29 June and 1 July Debrecen will welcome the national field of athletes under 23 years.
Those talents - with six hopes from Debrecen - will toe the line here who can compete for the participation of the European Championships. Afternoon of the meaty day was closed by the small group meetings of the referees and the orientation of the volunteers where managers of different spheres outlined the participants of the competition organization about their personal tasks.
