POSITION OF THE HUNGARIAN TEAM ONE MONTH BEFORE THE EUROPEAN ATHLETICS U23 CHAMPIONSHIPS

The last considerable level-achieving competition of the Hungarian team participating in the European Championships is the national championship which is going to be arranged between 29 June – 1 July.
The date of announcement of the team is 2 July which is at the same time the nomination deadline of EAA.

Up to now 22 Hungarian athletes, who has achieved the level of the European Championships, are waiting for the start of the continent championships.

Miklós Szebeny (100/10,46-10,17w- 200/ 21,08), Dávid Takács (800 / 1:48,18 indoor ) and Tamás Kazi (800 / 1:48,30) are in the European championship table with performance of the crack athletes of the age-group. Besides his excellent result in 1500 m (3:39,87), Barna Bene is looking forward to a good performance also in 5000 m in Debrecen. Lajos Kürthy put a splendid new record in shot (19,83), Kristóf Németh is performing stably over 70 m in hammer (71,96) and also his sports fellows, Vanda Nickl (66,61) and Noémi Németh (64,57) reached good results this year. The javelin thrower of Debrecen, Xénia Nagy (52,46) is in a reliable form.

The number of results within the level will prospectively grow, we plan to participate in relay race as well. In walking from the four women who are within the level, only three can line up for the start, their last chance to clarify it is the rising generation’s championships in Szeged at the weekend.

Two competitors reached their best results of this year in winter and in spring (D. Takács, Dániel Patkó, B. Molnár) and a woman 10.000 m runner (F. Gyurkó) is entering for world country running championship in the time of the European Championships.

Several people approached the nomination level, number of the team will prospectively increase.

Altogether nearly 40 athletes’ enter seem to be real in the great competition of the new generation in Debrecen.
