Sándor Széles would like to speak about Debrecen
Dániel Gyurta has a lot of question marks before Melbourne.
It is not a question that work of swimming trainers is not a life insurance. During the last two decades about sixty people were ’killed’ in Komjádi Swimming Pool. The master trainer of ’Jövő SC’ (in our picture) states that he is the last Mohican.
- My situation is multiply not easy – states Sándor Széles who endured twenty years at Széchy school which can not be qualified by any chance as an easy school. – Because here is my trainee, Dani Gyurta who is a great talent but in his career – in spite of his hardly seventeen years – there are both the biggest heaps of corpses and the troughs of the wave. After winning to great surprise the silver medal in Athens, he had already been in very bad mood in order that after then he can win the 200 m breaststroke in the European Short Course Championships in Helsinki.
- Let’s be optimistic and let’s believe that the latest success gave Dani energy!
- I think we made good progress when a flu came four weeks before and it was caught by all members of the Hungarian swimming selected team, except Laci Cseh. If it had not happened, I could wait much calmly for the travel on Wednesday morning or the beginning of the wch on 25th March.
- But the 2:06:58 time in Helsinki should not be disparaged…
- Yes, yes, but it does not give cause for exaggerated presumption either. According to conversion it complies with about 2:11 minutes in a fifty-metre pool, which does not reach my wishes. As one week fell out completely, another one week spent when we could get back to the loadability before his illness. So I would rather not speak about my hopes. Because Dani’s form and mood are both undulating. At present I still can not speak about stable form but promising gleams. So if he swam between 2:10 and 2:11 in Melbourne, it would be good independently of the place.
- Dani holds the national record with 2:10:75 minutes since Athens, thus the above-mentioned time really seems to be good. But it matters what the rivals know.
- The world record of 2:08:50 of the American Hansen, which he reached last year, is another category so far. The Japanese Kitajima, the champion of Athens is close to it who did not simply struggled back himself into the Japanese WCh team, but he is able to swim about 2:09 time. And then I still have not mentioned the Australian Piper and the others.
- How is your trainee’s world champion program?
- We will be there ten days before the beginning, this time should be enough. In addition to it, thanks to the program, Dani can enter also 100 m without any risks, which is good for warming up on the spot, and being in competition.
- All in all in what mood are you looking forward to the great challenge?
- I would like to speak about European Short-Course Championships of Debrecen in December because that would mean that Dani did well in Melbourne. The truth is that I am under high pressure in every competition, it is not easy to stand the permanent proof force. Besides my friends I am envied by many and I also have a lot of enemies. And is it together with paranoia as well? I do not know, but one thing is sure: I am really in the rat race.
