Debrecen is the most important
intermediary step

After an ambiguous world championships participation, the summer holiday finished also for the swimmers of Kőbánya SC who are beginning the training for the period lasting from Debrecen to Peking with the management of György Turi leading trainer (in our picture) on 3rd September. 

1. Fortunately I told it in advance that the March world championships date is unsuitable for me as earlier I have not had any experience in leading a three-month-long training period - began our conversation György Turi. – In spite of it I would qualify our results reached in the Australian World Championships good, exception for the „suffered” fifth place of Laci Cseh in his main event, in 400 m medley. I give a full picture of it If I add that in 200 m medley he swam a great European record. Otherwise in Melbourne I could have been happy that Nikolett Szepesi reached international level personal bests even in two events and her sixth place, which was great in that field.
2. Summer has gone without world competitions, so the national championships could have meant a step in taking in the development and the situation.
3. Laci Cseh’s national champion title was the best result especially if I add to it in what a stepped-up time he performed each events. His time reached in 400 m medley was really promising relating the future.
4. Is it the future in which the most important step will be the Peking Olympic Games of 2008.
5. We have been working continuously since spring, the championships was only an intermediary step in order that we can continue the hard trainings from 3rd September for the earliest trial of strength, the European Short Course Swimming Championships due to be in December in Debrecen. This competition will be organised in a definitely good time as we would have needed a serious controlling trial of strength at that period.
6. How many competitors of you will be present in Debrecen?
7. As now we have to emphasize quality, not quantity, thus I plan the start of only three swimmers of Kőbánya. László Cseh, Nikolett Szepesi and Ágnes Kovács will toe the line in Debrecen.
8. Are they also the first expectants to fly to the Olympic Games?
9. Yes, but it has to be added that behind them there are still some extremely talented competitors of ours who rightly hope to participate in Peking. I concretely mention the name of Eszter Dara, Dominik Kozma and Péter Pernek from whom – according to my hopes - at least two of them will be in the Olympic Games.
