Year-End Gala

The traditional year end gala of Debrecen Sport Centre-Sport School (DSC-SS) was held in Oláh Gábor Street Sports Hall on 10th December. On behalf of the sport committee of the city Endre Asbóth president, Imre Csősz vice-president and Dr. Mihály Süvöltős former selected leading player of Debrecen Dózsa were present in the ceremony. The president welcomed the present competitors, coaches, parents and the famous guests. After that Mihály Orendi, managing director of Debrecen Sport Centre Kht. made a speech to the young athletes. In his short speech he spoke about the last year and emphasized the importance of going to trainings.

In this very good atmosphere ceremony rewarding of the best ones of Sport School took place. The prize for the best athlete of the year was given to Tamás Kéki (coach: Zsolt Papp) triathlonist who finished in the seventh place in junior world duathlon championships this year and besides it he won hands down in aquathlon, duathlon and triathlon Hungarian championships. The prize for the best team was received by Balázs Benyáts’ boy handball players who won the National Adolescent Championship in spring. Csaba Sidó received life achievement award as several great footballers trained in his teams / during the last decades.

The programme was varied with competitions among the sport school sections and two very interesting gala matches. Coaches and competitors of girl handball section had a match with the DVSC-Sport School mixed team hall-marked with the names of Viktória Csáki, Éva Kiss and Anita Kazai. The match was balanced so it is not surprising that it ended in a draw.

After all coaches and players of football section played a match with the team of Tibor Dombi, Tamás Sándor, Csaba Bernáth and the others. The three-fold Hungarian champion trio proved their skills and won the match by 7:5. 

The ceremony was finished by the exhibition programme of the Hungarian Foot Tennis Association.
