A New Technical Director At The Head Of Sport School

The new technical director of Sport School, Tamás Szafkó began his work on 16th September. The application was invited even in July for the managing position of the organization playing central role in the new generations’ education in Debrecen. The applicants could outline their conception first of all for an ad hoc committee of five representatives of the profession and the city. After that, Mr Mihály Orendi, the managing director of Debrecen Sport Centre Kht., gave the best applicants a hearing and considering the recommendation of the committee, he chose the winner applicant for the post.

The new director is in close connection with sports as he has played volleyball competitively from his age of 8 for 12 years. During this period he could celebrate NL II champion title in junior age group as a registered player of ‘DEAC’.

He graduated from the Faculty of Economics of University of Debrecen as a professional economist. During his academic years he was the president of the Students’ Self-Government of the faculty and he was also member of the Sports Committee of University of Debrecen. Following his graduation he has acted as the presidency member of ‘DEAC’ for two years.

After graduating from university he was the manager of National Relations Department of Rector’s Office at University of Debrecen. He worked two years at University and then he worked for an international company, Ygomi Group where he was the responsible manager of Marketing and International Relations. Later he was a product manager at British Telecom.

His experience gained as a sportsman and an economist helped him in his decision: to apply for the technical director position of Sport School. To manage the twelve sections of the forty-five-year-old institution will not be an easy task. We wish him persistence and every success for this work.
