DSC-SS: Successful Athletes
The athletes’ community of the Debrecen Sport Centre and Sport School organized an end-of-the-season meeting for evaluating the past year’s work. Fortunately, the excellent adult and junior sportsmen and their coaches could congratulate each other: the sportsmen of DSC-SS achieved wonderful results in international and national competitions alike, all in all, they better than last year.
The participants of the meeting were greeted by Róbert Kalmár, Director of the Debrecen Sport Services Ltd. whereas the detailed account of the results was provided by Péter Skoumal who will work as a coach in Denmark in the future. He had quite a few things to evaluate since the athletes of the Sport Centre participated in many competitions from an adult world championship through a U23 European Championship and a Universiade to the national championship. Many of the athletes proved their talent with new individual records.
Mihály Orendi, Director of the Sport Centre also talked about remarkable achievements when he mentioned that in spite of the unfavourable economic conditions no participation, preparation camp or training was cancelled due to lack of funds which is a great result under the present circumstances. Naturally, the main characters of the event were the sportsmen and sportswomen in each age group. Owing to their talent and diligence, six young persons got into the circle of the specially “managed” athletes: Tibor Horváth (coach: László Donka), Krisztián Zilahi (coach: László Donka), Norbert Lesku (coach: László Suba), Dóra Szarvas (coach: László Suba), Renáta Soltész (coach: László Suba) and Máté Kocsis (coach: István Tömöri).
Gréta Kerekes (coach: László Donka) was nominated the most successful sportsgirl of the year while among the boys of the same age Tibor Koroknai (coach: Csaba Giczei) got the same recognition. Among the adults Bernadett Aradi (coaches: Magdolna Lázár, János Aradi) was chosen the best female athlete and Olivér Harsányi (coaches: Péter Skoumal, Róbert Szabó) the most successful sportsman. The event was attended by Mrs Irén Bene, the one-time excellent runner, Attila Zsivoczky, decathlonist and world championship bronze-medalist as well as Tamás Kazi, doing very well at the 800 m running at the world championship, all of whom have been doing their best to make Debrecen athletics successful. |
