‘Shining treasures , swimming stars’
Two superb events were organized this week within the Debrecen Sportcenter Sportschool. The talents of the “Treasure-Hunter” programme were transferred to the Sportschool’s different sections while the members of the national swimming team gave a talk in the Sport Swimmingpool.
Members of the National Swimming Team - Dániel Gyurta, Gergely Gyurta, Ágnes Mutina, Evelyn Verrasztó and Zsuzsanna Jakabos all from the team of Jövő SC – are just after a two week training camp under the leadership of coach Balázs Fehérvári. The star swimmers took part in a public meeting where those who were interested and the young swimmer talents of Debrecen had the chance to talk to their sport heroes and collect autographs.
The host of the event, the managing director of the Sportcentre Mihály Orendi greeted the athletes and congratulated them on their results. And he was rightly to do that as these athletes getting up at 5 am and swimming 15 kilometers a day surely deserve the all acknowledgement. Many children were eager to hear the national team members’ words especially those of Dániel Gyurta. He mentioned that Debrecen and the Sport Swimmingpool is in his heart, since he broke a World Record here in the Short Course European Championships. The meeting was a success and will surely be memorable for many children.
Young athletes were celebrated at Oláh Gábor Sport Hall where the talents selected by the ‘Treasure-Hunter’ programme were transferred to the sections of the Sportschool. Mihály Orendi, leading figure of the Sportcentre did not forget to acknowledge the work of the children, parents, PE teachers and the workers of the program. He served with good news as well: Mrs. Rezső Széles, member of the advisory board of Foundation for Talented Youth in Debrecen donates 300.000 Forints to cover the expenses of the programme going on.
The ‘Treasure-Hunter’ programme’s key figures Danica Keczeli and Csilla Szalai received a certificate of merit on this occasion. |
