Great success, superb performances

The Rhythmic Gymnastics World Cup finished in an electric atmosphere with high standard shows in Phoenix Hall. The spectators could celebrate home success as well.

The apparatus finals were held on Sunday in Phoenix Hall. The program started with the juniors’ finals where the Hungarian Nikolett Szolnoki qualified for all four disciplines. Bernadett Hernesz managed to get into the top eight in two disciplines.

The Hungarian girls created a genial atmosphere for the afternoon finals and the gala. Nikolett Szolnoki was seventh with rope and clubs, and sixth with hoop and ball. Bernadett Hernesz was seventh with ball and eighth with clubs.

Nikolett Szolnoki was satisfied after the competition: ’I’m very pleased with these places, I did pretty good in the first two apparatuses, and I was a little bit tired for the second two, but the atmosphere of the hall perked me up’ said the talent.

Among the juniors the Russians were not gracious with the field either. Natalija Bulicseva and Galina Adel were the best with all four apparatuses.

In the seniors’ competition Dóra Vass tried to get a good position among the bests with hoop. Her nice and firm exercise satisfied the spectators, and finally the judges ranked her eighth. ’I slept well at night and the warm up was good, its true though that too many of us were practicing on the mat at the same time. Normally, I’m anxious before the double throws, but today I didn’t have problems with them. I’m pleased with my exercise and my eighth place as well’ – said Dóra Vass.

The absolute favorite in all apparatuses and from all aspects was Olympic Champion Jevgenyija Kanajeva who possesses excellent qualities and if she has a good day she is unbeatable.

In the groups competition the Hungarian hand apparatus team (Júlia Buda, Judit Hauser, Fanni Kohlhoffer, Dária Topic, Anna Tőkés and Ágnes Vándor, reserve: Barbara Katona) qulified fifth for the finals, where they could prove that it was not an accidental: Finally, in the five hoop competition they finished seventh place, in the two rope- three ribbon combination they were fifth. It was unquestionable that the gold medals went to the Russian teams.

After the gymnasts performances the celebrities induced ovation in Phoenix Hall. The fantastic singer Ildikó Keresztes and SP – the popular pop singer among teenagers - brought down the house and the spectacular gala in the end gave memorable moments for the audience.
