The
opening speech of Lamine Diack
I
show my appreciation to the courageous initiation of the IAAF
Debrecen Sportcenter, who organized the International Choac
Conference after organizing the Athletics Indoor World Championship
in Budapest.
The main goal of the conference is- which according to the
expectations of the organizers would be a regular meeting
each year- nothing else, than a place for sharing ideas, information
and opinions with each other- from the different fields of
athletics.
As in every other walks of life, changes happen in athletics
bewilderly, so it is just as important to know about the latest
developments, considering not just the sport science, but
the way, how people look at it and think about it. That's
why the conference wanted to discuss, apart from the issues
of the coach's, the issues of the sportmen as well. We need
their support just as much as we need the support of the sport
doctors, scientists, journalists and fans.
I think it is a reasonable step to connect the conference
to the Athetics Indoor World Championship, and to use the
mementon of this sport event for inviting several honourable
performer who's followers themselves go for the medals in
Budapest. Above the lectures about the coach work, other topics
came up on the conference as well, such as the medical stuff,
and the recent dutyes and work of coaches' and athletes' representatives
in the world of sport.
Finally i would like to congratulate to the efforts of the
Debrecen IAAF Trainingcenter's very enthusiastic team, therefore
they demonstrate spectactularly the facilities of the elit
sportcenter of the IAAF to people from all over the World.
Lamine Diack,
President of the International Athletic Federation
